For our product development team in Schlieren, Zürich, Switzerland, we are looking to immediately recruit an

 

Optical Systems Engineer – (80-100%)

 

Your main functions: 
  • Technical responsibility for optical functions in the product development of opto-mechatronic systems with a focus on illumination and imaging systems in microscopy and fluorescence measurement technology.
  • Providing support in the initial stages of a project as a technical expert in customer meetings and workshops, and in project planning
  • Advising customers in defining the requirements for products and projects
  • Developing optical systems from the initial concept through to series production using state-of-the-art development tools and a well-equipped laboratory environment
  • Preparing the technical documentation during the development phase for procurement and production
  • Close collaboration in an interdisciplinary and international team of developers, with suppliers and external customers
  • Supporting the in-house advance development of technology and the further improvement of laboratory equipment and development processes
 
Your profile: 
  • Several years of experience in the conceptual design, construction and industrialization of technical optical systems
  • Extensive knowledge of optical detectors and light sources, especially LEDs and optical detectors
  • In-depth knowledge of measurement technology and data analysis
  • Sound proficiency in Zemax and Matlab
  • Knowledge of the tools and methods for requirements engineering, agile project management and lean management, and a design thinking approach would be an advantage
  • University degree in technology/science, preferably with a master’s degree or doctorate and with a specialization in technical optics (electrotechnology, physics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar)
  • Experience in the development of medical or IVD products to ISO 13485 standard or in the field of biochemistry for clinical diagnostics would be an advantage
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both spoken and written English and German
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and dealing with customers
  • Well-developed quality awareness, responsibility and a high level of commitment
  • Willingness to travel within Europe and to the USA up to 10% of the time
